FATAL ACCIDENT ON THE MACON & WESTERN RAILROAD.

When the down freight train m 2, due here yesterday morning about 6 o'clock, was four miles this side of Barnesville, the engine was thrown from the track by a broken rail, and Engineer Fleck was instantly killed. As far as has been ascertained no one else on the train was hurt, though it was reported yesterday evening that a fireman was also killed, he is undoubtedly incorrect. Few particulars of the accident could be obtained yesterday.CMacon Telegraph, Feb 8.

MELANCHOLY SUICIDE FROM ABERRATION OF INTELLECT.

Mr. Gilbert Clark, a citizen of Monroe County, hung himself last Friday night. He had been laboring under deep mental depression for a month or two, in which he was tormented with apprehensions of starvation in old age. His unsettled state of intellect and hints of self-destruction excited the apprehensions of his family and friends who kept a watch upon him. But on Friday, after midnight, his guardians fell asleep, and he stole out of the house and hung himself to the limb of a China tree. His body was found two or three hours after, bur life was quite extinct. Mr. Clark was a good man, a useful citizen and a deacon in the church at Holly Grove.

GEORGIA NEWS.

Miss Anna Haines, one of the most beautiful and accomplished young ladies of Sandersville, died on Thursday the 20th inst., of pneumonia.

The same fell disease also carried away from earth a few days before, Mr. Jordan F. Outlaw, Clerk of the Superior Court of Johnson County and one of her best citizens.

Our clever friend, J. M. G. Medlock, of the Sandersville Herald, has lost the fairest flower of his householdChis little baby, Mary Lillian. The bereavement is a sad one, and we tender our brother our heartfelt sympathy in his misfortune. We trust his loss is her eternal gain.

HORRIBLE MURDER IN WARREN COUNTY.

A horrible murder was committed in that portion of Warren County known as the "neck" on Saturday, 15th inst., by Mr. Ed. Clark, upon the body of his wife. We have been unable to see any one from the locality where the deed was committed, and are therefore unable to give full particulars. Rumor states, however, that he struck her a blow with a large iron spoke on the back of her head, cutting a three inch gash. He then piled the chairs and table over her lifeless body, and setting fire to them took one of his children in his arms and made his escape. The fire burned through the floor and the body of the unfortunate woman fell to the ground and was pierced through by the falling of a part-burned sill, the ragged end of the sill tore the liver, heart and entrails out of the lifeless body. We also learn that the youngest of the children, which the fiend left in the burning building with its mother was badly burned.CThe Georgia Clipper.
